Did you know that the Texas Cowboys joined forces with The Arc 63 years ago? In 1954, they began their contributions with volunteering and fundraising. In 1962 the donations from the Texas Cowboys were put in a fund, and in 1982 a new building was purchased, the Cowboys had raised more than half of the total!
Dr. Hunter Taylor, Texas Cowboy and assistant professor in the University of Mississippi School of Education, has been selected into the newest class of the Presidential Leadership Scholars program, a leadership development program jointly run by the presidential centers of four former U.S. presidents. Texas Cowboys Old Man Beau Hossler earned his official PGA Tour Card. With a birdie on the final hole of the WinCo Foods Portland Open, the final event of the Web.com Tour regular season, Hossler finished in a tie for 19th in the tournament to secure his PGA Tour card for 2017-18 by finishing among the top 25 on the tour money list. Matt Mackowiak, New Man 2001, was elected Chairman of the Travis County Republican Party on June 13th. Following his victory, Mackowiak, a political strategist who vowed to reinvigorate the Travis County Republican Party explained, “For a kid that grew up in Austin in the ’80s, I assure you I never thought I’d be chairman of the Republican Party of Travis County...Honestly, it’s humbling.” To read more about Mackowiak and to view his acceptance speech please click here.
Scottie Scheffler, three-time state champion at Highland Park, ended his junior season at Texas with six top-three finishes, including a win at the East Lake Cup. We saw a great turnout at our Dallas and Ft. Worth area Texas Cowboys Alumni event on May 24th, 2017. Alumni gathered at the Dallas Country Club to catch up with old friends and meet new Cowboys Alumni over food and drinks. We were event blessed to have several Sweethearts attend, including Mrs. Gayla Craig-Chapman (1957), wife to Old man George Chapman.
