the arc of the capital area

Since 1954, The Cowboys have contributed not only time, but raised more than $250,000 to The Arc of the Capital Area (formerly The Association for Retarded Citizens of Austin). In 1962, The Arc began to set the money aside for a building fund. When the building was paid for in 1982, The Cowboys had raised more than half the total - $90,000.

UT ELEMENTARY

In 2023, the Texas Cowboys entered into a partnership with UT Elementary, a UT-system charter elementary school designed to serve Austin’s low-income communities. The Cowboys have aided UT Elementary in various capacities, including through fundraising and direct service at school events. Cowboys also have the opportunity to serve in a one-on-one mentorship program with students at UT Elementary. Members who choose to participate in the program are paired up with students, meeting with them weekly and maintaining contact with them throughout their middle and high school years. In this way, the Cowboys serve as positive role models beyond the students’ time at UT Elementary, generating a lasting impact on the community. The Texas Cowboys are also awarded two permanent board seats which allow members to maintain direct involvement in the day-to-day operation of the school.
